Vitaly Gardt, originally from Kirovohrad region, devoted ten years to military service. He went from a soldier in the ATO/JFO zone to an officer in the elite special forces unit "Omega". Vitaly was not only an experienced scout, but also a qualified tactical medic.
His combat path led through the liberation of Kyiv region, battles for Izyum and the hellish industrial zone of Siverskodonetsk. Vitaliy dreamed of publishing a book about his experiences and managed to write an 80-page manuscript about one day of battles for Siverskodonetsk. These notes, entitled “24 Hours of War,” have now become part of the exposition of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War II.
He was an incredibly attentive husband to his wife Anna and a loving, caring father to his daughter. They were his greatest support and inspiration.
On March 22, 2023, near Avdiivka, Vitaliy's group successfully practiced on enemy equipment. When the officer reached a nearby position to provide assistance to the wounded, massive artillery and tank shelling began. Vitaliy Gardt died on the spot, performing his duty as a medic and soldier.
Every day we honor all those who died as a result of the cynical Russian invasion.
