Representatives of communities in Luhansk Region, led by the Head of the Regional State Administration, Oleksiy Kharchenko, participated in the first Prayer Breakfast of the front-line territories of Ukraine, which took place in the outpost city of Dnipro.
The event brought together officials, religious leaders of different faiths, business and public representatives from 10 regions that hold the Ukrainian front and the security of all of Europe.
"Prayer is a great driving force. Everyone, through their personal faith, wants to hear God. By uniting the hearts of our Ukraine, God has given us encouragement and strength in the fight against the enemy," Metropolitan Simeon of Dnipro and Sicheslav noted in his speech.
He emphasized that currently the three branches of Christianity - Catholicism, Orthodoxy, and Protestantism - demonstrate the unity of our country and our faith.
From the Dnipropetrovsk region, the head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Ganzha, the chairman of the regional council, Mykola Lukashuk, the mayor of Dnipro Borys Filatov, and from the Jewish religious community, Shmuel Kaminetsky, the chief rabbi of Dnipro and Dnipropetrovsk region, addressed the participants of the Prayer Breakfast with welcoming words.
In their speeches, they drew historical parallels between the struggle for Ukraine's independence and the United States, our state's strategic partner in repelling the Russian aggressor.
"Today, representatives of frontline communities, who with their indomitability daily remind the world not only of the value, but also of the price of freedom, have united in a common prayer for a just peace, the victory of truth, and the restoration of humanity. Together we are strong. Together in prayer we are invincible," Oleksiy Kharchenko commented on the importance of the event.
For reference: The Prayer Breakfast Movement covers over 120 countries around the world, and aims to build trust, establish dialogue, and join forces around moral and ethical values, peace, and mutual understanding. In Ukraine, Prayer Breakfasts have been held since 2008. They have become an important component of "spiritual diplomacy," uniting thought leaders and politicians of different factions for the sake of common values.
