"The first question before us is: do we want to be Luhansk residents in the territory controlled by Ukraine? Or do we become residents of host communities? And this is also everyone's free choice," the head of the Luhansk region, Oleksiy Kharchenko, addressed the youth activists of the region.
The Head of the Regional State Administration discussed the main problem with representatives of youth councils in an offline format: the need to socialize young people in a new environment, but while preserving local identity.
Discussing the integration of residents of the region into host communities, Oleksiy Kharchenko emphasized: "We must preserve our identity in historical retrospect so that one day they will say: Luhansk people live here."
Despite the lively discussion about scenarios for uniting the youth of the Luhansk region, everyone agreed that the possibility of personal communication is an extremely important factor, so the authorities should help create such spaces, as well as prompt communication with the authorities - for this purpose, a regional youth chat will be created.
The venue for communication was the premises of the Luhansk Regional Academic Ukrainian Musical and Drama Theater, which has already relocated three times, but reliably maintains contact with its audience.
Theater director Oleksandr Grishkov announced the creative team's cultural initiative - IDPs from the Luhansk region can attend performances together for one ticket - and invited boys and girls to attend new performances.
They also touched on very sensitive issues: after all, today's youth are children of the fallen Defenders of Ukraine, families of veterans, and active military personnel.
"Relations between the government and society are a synergistic process. So, as agreed, on March 23, I expect constructive proposals that we will work on together," the head of the regional state administration summed up the meeting.
