The head of the Luhansk region, Oleksiy Kharchenko, met in Kyiv with the newly appointed head of the IOM Representative Office in Ukraine, Robert Turner, and his deputy, Dejan Keserovic. They discussed the expansion of bilateral partnership in various areas, including providing housing for internally displaced persons, supporting healthcare institutions and social assistance to the population. During the meeting, they reviewed the status of the implementation of current joint projects and identified new areas of assistance to IDPs from the Luhansk region. “We are grateful for the openness to dialogue, real actions and willingness to continue to cooperate to overcome new challenges,” Oleksiy Kharchenko emphasized.
The head of the Luhansk region also held a personal reception for citizens in Kyiv. The daughter of a serviceman released from captivity and the wife of a deceased ATO participant turned to him to receive financial, humanitarian and other assistance provided for by law. Both families are being supported by their communities. In particular, a former resident of Bryanka, registered as an IDP in Kreminna, while still in the hospital, received documents: an extract from his captivity, passport, TIN, bank card, IDP certificate. The Kreminna MVA provided UAH 30,000, another UAH 5,000 came from administration employees. Additionally, state support amounted to UAH 100,000, from the NGO "Right to Protection" - UAH 16,000, from the Kyiv City Council - UAH 20,000.
Mobilized individuals and volunteers received UAH 120,000 from the Lysychansk community: seven mobilized individuals and one contract worker received assistance. Since the beginning of the year, the corresponding support amounted to UAH 975,000 and covered 52 mobilized individuals and 13 volunteers. Payments are made within the framework of the city program of social support for Defenders of Ukraine for 2023-2025.
Parliamentarians from Luhansk region support funding for relocated medical facilities. The relocated hospitals provide quality services and successfully compete with local facilities. Examples include the Luhansk Regional Clinical Oncology Dispensary, which resumed operations in Rivne region, and the Seversko-Donetsk City Multidisciplinary Hospital in Kyiv region.
First Deputy Head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Oleksiy Smirnov visited the employees of the State Emergency Service in the Luhansk region, congratulated them on the Day of the Savior and presented two of them with regional awards: the Badge of Honor "Defender of Luhansk Region" and an honorary diploma of the Luhansk Regional State Administration. "Today you are performing extremely complex tasks in other regions, counteracting the consequences of Russian shelling and natural disasters. What you are doing is true heroism. I wish you to always return from duty alive and unharmed," Oleksiy Smirnov emphasized.
This summer, communities in Luhansk region provided recreation and health care to over 4,700 children. 197 children were treated with state budget funds, 33 children from non-relocated communities were sent to the Artek Children's Center, and 39 children with disabilities attended rehabilitation and adaptation camps at the Luhansk Regional Center "Renaissance". With the support of international partners, 187 children traveled abroad: Latvia - 101 children, France - 25, Poland - 24, Czech Republic - 14, Germany - 13, other countries - 18.
Local community health programs have reached hundreds of children: in the Mountain community, 435 children were treated, including 19 orphans and those deprived of parental care, 23 children with disabilities, 58 from large families, 82 from low-income families, and 91 children of combatants. In Krasnorychenska - 15 children, 7 from privileged categories; in Kolomyychyska - 7 children; in Kreminska - 878 children, of which 116 in the Druzhba Children's Center (Ivano-Frankivsk region), 27 in Gala Camp (Kamenets-Podilskyi), 5 children from privileged categories in the Artek Children's Center, and international trips to Latvia and Poland were organized; in Lysychanska – 614 children, some – in the Artek Medical Center, the Ministry of Health sanatoriums, Sonyachne Zakarpattya, Karpaty, international trips to Latvia and Poland; in Svativska – 36 children, 14 of them with benefits, rested in Edelweiss, 9 – in Artek, 3 – in the Mayachky camp, 1 – in Italy; in Bilokurakynska – 25 children, 11 of them with benefits, trips to Edelweiss for UAH 682.5 thousand.
Adoption Day was celebrated with a meeting with parents-educators: Deputy Head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Kateryna Bezginska and Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in the Luhansk region Robertas Gabulas visited the SOS Family Strengthening Center "Children's Towns of Ukraine" in Poltava, where they met with the families of Podhayko, Naumov, Zaika and Shevchenko. The Podhayko family received a two-story house, a certificate for 100 thousand UAH and gifts. The needs of the families were discussed: Naumov is ready to create a new DBST, the Shevchenkos need help with housing for their older child.
Veterans from the Bilokurakynsk community can receive compensation of up to UAH 50,000 to create conditions for entrepreneurial or independent professional activities. Support is provided to veterans and their family members who are self-employed (individual entrepreneurs of groups I–III or independent professional activities), only for documented expenses.
