One-time cash assistance payments for the Independence Day of Ukraine in 2026

On May 13, 2026, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted Resolution No. 602 "On establishing the size of a one-time cash payment for the Independence Day of Ukraine, provided for by the Laws of Ukraine "On the Status of War Veterans, Guarantees of Their Social Protection" and "On Victims of Nazi Persecutions", in 2026."

This year, the payments have been set at the following amounts:

persons with disabilities as a result of war and former minors (who were under 14 years old at the time of imprisonment) prisoners of concentration camps, ghettos, other places of forced detention, recognized as persons with disabilities due to general illness, work injury and other reasons:

- Group I - 3100 hryvnias;

- Group II - 2900 hryvnias;

- Group III - 2700 hryvnias;

to combatants, injured participants in the Revolution of Dignity, and former minors (who were under 18 years old at the time of imprisonment) prisoners of concentration camps, ghettos, and other places of forced detention, as well as children born in the specified places of forced detention of their parents - 1,000 hryvnias;

to persons who have special merits before the Motherland - 3,100 hryvnias;

to family members of deceased (deceased) war veterans whose status is established in accordance with paragraph 1 of Article 10 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Status of War Veterans, Guarantees of Their Social Protection”, to family members of deceased (deceased) Defenders of Ukraine, to wives (husbands) of deceased persons with disabilities as a result of the war who did not remarry, to wives (husbands) of deceased participants in hostilities, participants in the war and victims of Nazi persecution, recognized during their lifetime as persons with disabilities from a general illness, occupational injury and for other reasons who did not remarry — 650 hryvnias;

to war participants and former prisoners of concentration camps, ghettos, other places of forced detention, persons who were forcibly taken away for forced labor, children of partisans, underground fighters, and other participants in the fight against the National Socialist regime behind enemy lines — 450 hryvnias.

In 2026, the list of categories of persons to whom cash assistance is paid automatically was expanded - most recipients do not need to apply for payment additionally.

The procedure for making a one-time cash payment for the Independence Day of Ukraine was approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated December 27, 2023 No. 1396 "Some issues of social protection of persons with special labor merits before the Fatherland, war veterans and persons working in special conditions."

How will the payment be made?

  • Recipients of cash assistance who receive a pension (monthly lifetime cash support), housing subsidies or benefits for paying for housing and communal services, and are not in service (military service), cash assistance will be paid in August together with their pension, housing subsidy or benefit.

To make payments to pensioners, beneficiaries, and beneficiaries, there is no need to apply additionally.

  • For war veterans who are serving (military service), including those who are pensioners or recipients of housing subsidies or benefits for paying for housing and communal services, funds will be sent to the accounts of military units, institutions, and organizations where such citizens are serving (military service).

If a citizen is serving in the military, he must make sure that the employer has information about his affiliation with war veterans.

  • Those who are entitled to payment, are not pensioners/recipients of housing subsidies and benefits, and are not serving in the military service, must contact the territorial body of the Pension Fund of Ukraine to receive assistance.

The application (in any form) shall indicate the details of documents confirming the identity; the bank account number for receiving the payment; the registration number of the taxpayer's registration card (if any) and the details of the identity card that gives the right to receive the cash payment.

The following shall be attached to the application:

  • a copy of the passport of a citizen of Ukraine or a temporary identification card of a citizen of Ukraine (originals must be presented when applying in person);
  • a copy of the certificate confirming the relevant status of the person (in case of personal application - originals).

Recipients of cash assistance who will acquire the appropriate status by August 24 of this year and who will not be paid cash assistance as of October 1 have the right to apply for its payment to the Pension Fund of Ukraine and receive it by November 1 of this year.

You can apply for payment in one of the following ways:

  • in person, by contacting the selected service center of the Pension Fund of Ukraine or the administrative services center at the declared/registered place of residence (stay);
  • by mail - to the address of the territorial body of the Pension Fund of Ukraine;
  • online – through the web portal of electronic services of the Pension Fund of Ukraine, with a qualified electronic signature.

The statement states:

  1. details of documents confirming identity;
  2. bank account number for receiving payment;
  3. taxpayer registration card number (if available),
  4. details of the identity card that gives the right to receive a cash payment.

Scanned copies are attached to the application, and in case of personal application, originals of the following documents:

  1. passport of a citizen of Ukraine or temporary identification card of a citizen of Ukraine;
  2. a certificate confirming the relevant status of the person.
