On July 27, on the occasion of Medical Workers' Day, healthcare professionals in Luhansk region were honored with awards. In the conditions of a full-scale war, their work has become a real feat, as doctors save lives every day on the front and in the rear.
The event began with a moment of silence in memory of the seven medical workers in Luhansk Region who have died since the beginning of the Russian invasion.
Today, 121 medical workers from the region defend the country in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, providing assistance to the wounded directly on the front lines.
The Head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration, Oleksiy Kharchenko, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech, thanking the doctors and nurses for their dedicated work.
"For our Defenders, you have become real guardian angels. Every life saved under enemy fire, every successful evacuation and gift of hope is your daily titanic feat. Thank you very much for your courage, indomitability and loyalty to your calling," the head of the region emphasized.
It should be noted that for her significant personal contribution to the development of domestic medicine and saving lives during martial law, Oksana Andreykiv-Morozova was awarded the honorary title "Honored Doctor of Ukraine", and emergency medicine doctor Lyudmila Shevtsova was awarded the Certificate of Gratitude of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
A number of specialists from the Luhansk Regional Emergency Medical Center, the regional clinical hospital, and other medical institutions received regional awards. In particular, the medical director Mykola Yaroshenko was awarded the badge "For contributing to the revival of the Luhansk region," and many doctors, paramedics, and nurses were awarded Certificates of Honor and Letters of Gratitude from the regional state administration.

NPE SMBL: Acting Head / Surgeon of the General Surgical Department with an Intensive Care Unit and Rehabilitation Beds Vitaliy Boyko, Anesthesiologist of the General Surgical Department with an Intensive Care Unit and Rehabilitation Beds Olena Tatarchenko and Assistant Occupational Therapist of the Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy Department with Rehabilitation Beds Maryna Korotun.
Despite the forced displacement, the medical system of Luhansk region continues to operate stably in the territory controlled by Ukraine. Currently, 34 healthcare institutions have resumed their activities, employing 1,347 specialists, including 449 doctors and 352 paramedical staff. The priority area of their work is the creation of a system of rehabilitation, psychological and palliative care for servicemen, veterans and their family members.
The projects of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program "How Are You?" are also being actively implemented in communities, within which psychological support rooms have been opened and mobile multidisciplinary teams are operating.
