About the situation in Luhansk region as of the morning of 03/03/2026

Despite the statements: the number of voters in the "LPR" decreased by at least 50 thousand in a year, and by 650 thousand during the years of occupation; the Novodruzhsk school is heated with a stove - everyone takes turns studying in one room; the occupiers fired mortars and artillery in Luhansk region

"Shooting the settlements of Luhansk region and the fortifications of Ukrainian defenders, the invaders are firing from all available weapons. So, yesterday they struck with mortars eight times, hit with grenade launchers four times, and three times with artillery. They used drones. They attacked our front lines 21 times," said Oleksiy Kharchenko, the head of the region.

The so-called "LPR" tried in every way to increase the number of voters for the upcoming vote for candidates for deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation of the ninth convocation. The vote will take place in September of this year. And for the first time in the territories occupied by Russia, parliamentarians will be elected. All these years, the occupation administration has been manipulating statements about the number of people who have the right to participate in the elections in every possible way. It is not surprising that this figure has been constantly growing in the information space. And voting in the presidential elections was allowed even with documents of the USSR model. However, even according to the information of the Russian Central Election Commission, the number of voters during 2025, despite all efforts, fell by almost 50 thousand people. And these are only the "official" data of the Russians. For comparison, in 2012, the number of people who had the right to vote in the Luhansk region was 650 thousand more than now.

Residents of Novodruzhesk, located near Lysychansk, have been surviving for almost four years without electricity, water, or heating. However, in such conditions, the invaders force children to go to school. In the autumn and winter, the building is heated with a stove. Therefore, students are forced to take turns studying in one classroom.
