The Department of Social Protection of the Population of the Luhansk Regional State Administration has started offline meetings with liquidators of the Chernobyl NPP accident.
As part of preparations for the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl tragedy, the head of the Luhansk OVA, Oleksiy Kharchenko, instructed to personally thank every Chernobyl displaced person from the Luhansk region for their civic feat, regardless of the region to which the person moved.
The goal is to provide proper social and medical support for liquidators, to clearly distribute responsibilities between the regional state administration, local and host communities, in order to avoid manipulation on these issues.
The first such meeting took place in Dnipro.
Representatives of the PFU Main Directorate in Luhansk region and relevant departments - social protection and healthcare - were invited to participate so that the liquidators could ask the specialists the questions that concern them the most.
As always, there have been a lot of them: housing problems, selective suspension of food compensation payments, the need to purchase medicines for scheduled treatment at certain medical facilities, etc.
All problems have been recorded and will be resolved individually.
"The world will have the consequences of this tragedy for a long time! The duty of the authorities and the entire society is to support you, provide proper social protection, medical care, and preserve the memory of your merits. I advise all communities to be sure to approve programs of material support for veterans, including Chernobyl survivors," said Oleksiy Kharchenko.
