On May 23, Ukraine will celebrate Heroes' Day of Ukraine - a national holiday of people who at different times fought and are fighting for the freedom of our state. And 2026 is a special year, because this year Heroes' Day turns 85!
On the eve of the holiday, on May 22 at 2:00 PM, the Educational Center of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will hold an All-Ukrainian online lesson "Land of Heroes" for schoolchildren and youth from all over the country.
This will be the start of a new educational initiative - a cycle of live meetings with the Heroes of Ukraine for schoolchildren and youth, launched as part of the cross-media project "12. Land of Heroes", which tells the stories of modern Heroes of Ukraine through film, music, educational and digital formats.
The hero of the first meeting will be Junior Lieutenant of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Golovnya - one of the twelve Heroes of the film "12. Land of Heroes".
At the age of 19, he went to the front. As a Javelin operator, he set a record for destroying enemy equipment and received the highest state award - the "Golden Star" of the Hero of Ukraine.
During the lesson, Andriy Golovnya will tell and show how the Javelin operator works, share combat experience and stories that you won't find in textbooks. He will tell you who the heroes are for the Heroes of Ukraine themselves and what helps not to lose faith and strength even in the most difficult moments.
And there will be a special surprise - Andriy will introduce the participants to his pet. The hero will tell how he prepares the dog for future service, so we will also talk about friendship, trust and the important role of animals in war.
During the lesson, participants will also learn:
how and why the Day of Heroes of Ukraine arose;
how the highest state award, the "Golden Star" of the Hero of Ukraine, was created and what it means;
who were the Heroes of the past and why modern defenders continue their tradition of struggle.
The creators of the film "12. Land of Heroes" will also join the lesson, who will tell how stories about modern Heroes of Ukraine are born - from cinema and music to educational formats created specifically for youth.
And also - a quiz, where the winners will receive unique gifts, and the opportunity to ask their questions to the Hero of Ukraine.
Register - it will be really interesting!
