The Ukrainian flag has been flying over the independent Luhansk region for 35 years.
The temporary occupation of the region did not break this tradition: today the National Flag was solemnly raised in all relocated communities of the region.
This year, the Defenders of Ukraine performed an honorary mission as a sign that the blue-yellow flag is a symbol of our struggle, will, and indomitability.
"We will wait for the moment when the Ukrainian flag will rise again over Luhansk. This day will definitely come. We will not return as guests. We will return home. We will return their names to the streets. Their voices to the cities. Their future to the children. Our memory to the fallen. And the Ukrainian flag will have a worthy place on the central squares of our villages and cities," said the head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Oleksiy Kharchenko.
