The head of the Luhansk region, Oleksiy Kharchenko, spoke about the results of working trips to Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi regions, during which he and his colleagues met with IDPs from the Luhansk region. So the heads of the host communities also had the opportunity to hear the problems of the people that need to be solved together. Some of them were solved on the spot, others were recorded for further processing by the relevant departments of the regional state administration.
Special attention was paid to the elderly and socially vulnerable categories.
Oleksiy Kharchenko once again reminded that displaced persons from Luhansk Region can report their needs to the Department of Social Protection of the Regional State Administration via the Telegram bot "Luhansk Region is United".
During the trip, the head of the region inspected the relocated Lysychansky and Kadiyivsky pedagogical vocational colleges, got acquainted with the organization of the educational process, and the equipment of the classrooms. An instruction was given to search for free premises for the arrangement of student dormitories.
The Head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration emphasized the importance of direct dialogue with the authorities of the host territories for effectively resolving the problems of IDPs.
"Such meetings contribute to community consolidation, prompt response to the requests of displaced persons, and the establishment of cultural life and socialization of IDPs in new places of residence," he noted.
Oleksiy Kharchenko noted that the achievements of the Luhansk region in supporting internally displaced persons in 2025 were noted within the framework of the discussion platform "Dialogue with Communities". In particular, the region allocated the largest amount in Ukraine to provide housing for IDPs - UAH 500 million. Thanks to the preferential lending program for IDPs, 176 families have received their own housing since 2014, including 49 people released from captivity.
In total, UAH 3.8 billion has been allocated from regional and local budgets to support IDPs (excluding housing programs), and the amount of funding for IDP support programs amounts to 6.1% of the budgets of communities in Luhansk Region — one of the highest indicators in the country.
Regarding the defense sector. The head of the region reported that this week the Defense Council of Luhansk Region approved UAH 119 million to provide the military with logistical robotic complexes, quadcopters, FPV drones, radio jamming equipment, satellite communications, and specialized vehicles.
In total, UAH 191.2 million has already been allocated from the regional budget since the beginning of the year to assist the Defense Forces.
