Dear Ukrainians!
Briefly about this day. I held a Stavka, the main issue at this Stavka is Russian air bombs, our protection against them. A complex issue is both countering Russian aviation, that is, our long-range activities, and other methods of protection. We are also working to have our Ukrainian analogues of such weapons. Now we have collected all the available technological solutions, available requests, and the task for the next Stavka is to determine what can and should be scaled up for the sake of protection against Russian air bombs, and so that we in Ukraine can truly respond to Russia and this threat in a mirror manner. Ukrainian technological development will not stop, and our state has the corresponding capabilities.
Today, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov reported on the results of meetings in America. There were meetings both at the political level and at the technological level – with American companies. America remains in the diplomatic process. It is clear that the war in Iran is currently attracting the most attention of America and the President of the United States. But there is a priority and support from the American people to end this war in Europe.
And it is the Russian war that has a global impact on technological changes – on the rigid development of the technology of war itself. Because of this Russian aggression, the killings have become more widespread and the threats – more dangerous, especially everything related to drones. Many, many partners understand this: and already 20 states are working with Ukraine at various levels so that we have Drone Deals with them. There are already political agreements with some countries, and there will be contracts for manufacturers, and our military expertise is already yielding results. We will soon sign political agreements with some countries. We have begun preparing such an agreement – Drone Deal – also with Canada, this is a very significant expansion of security cooperation. Both in the American direction and in Europe, we are trying to do everything possible so that we can produce enough anti-ballistic missiles here, in Ukraine, or together with partners. This is our constant task – additional missiles for air defense. And the best thing, of course, is to produce independently or together with those who can quickly increase production, to be technologically on par. This is one of the most difficult tasks, a strategic task for Ukraine – to produce all types of air defense, all necessary weapons systems in Ukraine or together with Europe.
Today, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius was in Ukraine. We talked, in particular, about the possibilities of joint weapons production: together with Germany we already make drones, we will increase this direction. I am grateful to Germany for the assistance in air defense - truly leadership assistance, we appreciate it. It is important that there is also significant assistance in the energy sector. We are very much counting on additional supplies of energy equipment from Germany. We are preparing to work at the E3 level - Britain, France, Germany. The format is needed for us, for Ukraine.
One more thing.
Our Ukrainian military command and the Ministry of Defense continue to prepare the army reform - the innovations that we need. We expect a start in June. We need to be in time for the details of the changes, for all the necessary decisions, for provision. In June, we expect the first tranches from the European support package for Ukraine - 90 billion euros for two years. It is in June that the funds should be used for Ukrainian stability. Government officials are currently actively working with the European Commission so that this does not drag on. Our internal stability, strong foreign policy work - this is the basis of our defense, the basis of our defense.
I want to thank everyone who works for Ukraine. I thank everyone who helps us! I thank everyone who fights, defends our state.
Today there was no silence on the front, there were hostilities. We recorded all this. We also see that Russia has no intention of ending this war, we are preparing for new attacks, unfortunately. But there must be peace. We are working for this. The defense of Ukraine, the independence of Ukraine, the security of our people is the most important thing.
Glory to Ukraine!
