"We must form our own veteran policy at the regional level. Identify all veterans who are natives of the Luhansk region and do not lose touch with their communities," - this is the task set by the head of the Luhansk region, Oleksiy Kharchenko, to the relevant department of the regional state administration.
The Head of the Regional State Administration in Kyiv met with representatives of the veterans' active community of Luhansk region to determine areas of joint work.
As with all displaced persons, for many former Defenders, the most important issue remains housing, as well as, of course, rehabilitation and recovery.
However, the leitmotif of the meeting was the issue of creating a veteran hub as a space where one can not only receive support and necessary professional advice, but also communicate with fellow veterans in a friendly circle. They say that without such a unifying platform, many are left alone with their problems.
"We need a consolidated position on the development of communities in Luhansk Region. Given the dispersion of the region's residents throughout the country and abroad, it is necessary to form target communities, including a veteran community," said Oleksiy Kharchenko.
He invited the participants of the discussion to formulate their proposals regarding joint areas of activity of the veteran community and the regional authorities.
They agreed to discuss them at the regional veterans' forum in April.
