The Security Service of Ukraine has recorded an increase in the number of fraudulent schemes in which criminals impersonate law enforcement officers. In particular, they present themselves as officials of the Security Service of Ukraine and other state structures. The main goal of these scams is to deceive citizens and seize their funds.
This is how criminals approach a person and first intimidate them with fabricated criminal cases about alleged treason, financing the Russian Federation, or purchasing prohibited goods. To increase pressure, criminals often send a fake summons for questioning via messenger.
The scammers then offer to avoid punishment. In most cases, they demand that money be transferred or given to them "for verification" or "to avoid criminal liability."
The Security Service of Ukraine once again calls on citizens to be vigilant and follow the following rules:
Record the details of the people who contacted you. Write down the phone number from which the call came, save screenshots of messages.
Do not share your confidential bank card details or make urgent money transfers.
Check all available information. Use only official sources (the Service's website – ssu.gov.ua , verified pages on social networks).
If you have become the object of such extortion or have received a suspicious message from a person claiming to be an SBU employee, immediately contact:
