In Luhansk region, support for education is being strengthened, Heroes are being honored, and social protection for defenders and veterans is being strengthened

"This week was marked by events important for the future of relocated communities and support for IDPs from Luhansk Region," said Oleksiy Kharchenko, the head of the region, during a weekly briefing.

In particular, the Luhansk Regional Military Administration concluded a memorandum of cooperation with the Swiss-Ukrainian DECIDE project, which will contribute to the implementation of the reform of specialized secondary education, updating strategic documents in the field of education, developing youth career guidance, digitalizing management, and involving communities in decision-making.

Also, on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl accident, Luhansk residents, led by Oleksiy Kharchenko, honored participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the disaster, awarded Chernobyl residents with regional awards, and discussed issues of their social protection. People's deputies from the Luhansk region will be involved in solving the problems of Chernobyl residents.

A separate significant event was the awarding of the title of Hero of Ukraine to Captain Oleksiy Mykhaylov, a native of Luhansk Region, who spent 343 days on the front line, performing combat missions in the Orikhiv direction. This is a recognition of the courage of the Ukrainian military and another testament to the indomitability of the Luhansk people.

At the same time, systemic support for veterans continues in the communities of the region: the Krasnorychensk community, within the framework of the "Caring for Heroes" program, continues to provide financial assistance to Defenders who were injured or discharged from service due to health reasons.

Such initiatives demonstrate the consistent work of the Luhansk region in the areas of education, social protection, honoring the feat of Ukrainians, and supporting those who defend the state.
